Objectives: Picosecond lasers are widely applied in various pigment treatments including tattoo removal, benign pigmentations, and melasma. However, impressive results beyond pigmental removal have been reported from the treatment of acne scarring. Facial acne scarring can cause severe psychological and social distress. Although current fractional lasers have delivered effective improvements, they may still leave post-treatment side effects, especially for Asian patients.

Introduction: An innovative incorporation of a diffractive lens array creates a grid of focused, micro-injury zones present as dermal vacuoles through the process called laser-induced optical breakdown with intact epidermis. With the initiation of wound repair processes, these zones have been shown to clinically improve atrophic scars, and wrinkles. I actively use this technique solely or in combination with conventional resurfacing devices for scar treatments. Our group is also conducting clinical trial comparing picosecond laser and nonablative fractional laser for the treatment of acne scarring.

Materials / method: This technique may enable a breakthrough skin rejuvenation method by introducing a safe treatment procedure.

Objectives: To investigate the effects of botulinum toxin (BoNT) injection on sleep bruxism (SB) episodes during sleep in SB patients who did not respond to oral appliance treatment.

Introduction: Recently BoNT injection in the masticatory muscles is widely applied to SB treatment. The effect of BoNT injection is to reduce the intense muscle contraction. In this study, we investigated the effects of intramuscular BoNT-A injection on SB using polysomnography (PSG) for 12 weeks under the randomized, placebo-controlled trial.

Materials / method: The subjects were randomly assigned into two groups. The placebo group (15 subjects) received bilateral saline injections into the bilateral masseter muscle, and treatment groups (15 subjects) received 25U of Prabotulinumtoxin A (NABOTAⓇ, Daewoong pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.) into the masseter muscles bilaterally. Audio-Video-polysomnographic recordings in sleep laboratory were made before, at 4 weeks after injection, and 12 weeks after injection. SB episodes were scored by detection of rhythm

Results: 23 subjects completed this study (placebo group 10, treatment group 13). All SB episode variables showed no significant time and group interaction (repeated measures analysis of variance (RM-ANOVA), p > 0.05). The peak amplitude of EMG burst during RMMA showed significant time and group interaction (RM-ANOVA, p = 0.001). The injection decreased the peak amplitude of EMG burst during RMMA episodes in the only treatment group for 12 weeks (RM-ANOVA, p < 0.0001).

Conclusion: Although a single BoNT-A injection cannot reduce the genesis of RMMA in the masseter muscle, it can be an effective strategy for controlling SB by reducing the intensity of masseter muscle for at least 12 weeks.

Objectives: As we all know, the culprit of facial aging is the loss of collagen - crow's feet, striated lines, glabellar wrinkles, deepening of the nasolabial folds, sagging of the lower jaw and neck, etc., all of which are the result of lack of support after the dermal layer fibers breaking. Coupled with increased skin pigmentation, water loss, and overall face down, these all add our sense of aging.

Objectives: The first objective of the study was to understand if it's possible to obtain volume gain using Aptos absorbable threads without filler injections.
The second one was to verify the effect of biostimulation due to the presence of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which is slowly and gradually realised by poly-caprolactone (PCL), two main ingredients of Aptos threads, evaluating wrinkles improvement using the 3D photosystem.

Introduction: Thread lifting is a popular procedure aiming to correct face oval and create biostimulation. The success of the method is due to the absence of cut and scars and the short downtime. Aptos threads have a unique structure and composition which allows for an effective skin reposition and long lasting biostimulation. The author observed that most of the patients treated with Aptos threads with multidirectional barbs gained some volume in an aesthetically advantageous position and improved skin quality. It was interesting to quantify this volume gain and evaluate the effect on wrinkles objectively

Materials / method: Eight patients underwent to thread lifting procedure with Aptos absorbable threads with multidirectional barbs (Visage Classic). The objective evaluation of volume gain was made utilising the 3D photosystem. The assessment of wrinkles condition was made using dedicated software and comparing the patient's wrinkles to the standard deviation.

Results: The study confirmed the possibility to gain volume without add fillers by moving the naturally present fat pads and skin in an aesthetically advantageous position. The evaluation of wrinkles showed a visible improvement after Aptos thread insertion.

Conclusion: Armouring procedure with Aptos Visage Classic threads is an effective procedure which not only improves the shape of the face but also helps add volume in the wanted position without filler injections. Moreover, the slow and gradual release of PLLA by PCL assures a visible improvement of wrinkles condition.

Objectives: Strategies to highlighting beauty in Asian face with amalian filler and volumizing for young face.

Introduction: Asians have faces that are not three-dimensional unlike Westerners.
Therefore, a procedure is required to create a volume in a variety of areas, so they use products that have different characteristics depending on the injecting area.
However, in a doctor’s position, it is efficient to have the same product and to perform the procedure in terms of management and cost.

Materials / method: In a detailed procedure, several injection points are determined.
And use a needle to inject the correct capacity into the correct area.
On the other hand, the procedure for volumization of the entire face uses a cannula that can be applied to multiple areas through one injection point.

Results: An Asian can make a three-dimensional face and a young face by volumizing their nose, jaws and front lights.
