José Luis López Estebaranz is a dermatologist and Head of the Dermatology Department at the University Hospital Fundación Alcorcón and Medical Director of DermoMedic Medical Center in Madrid. He is also associate Professor of the Rey Juan Carlos University (School of Medicine). His clinical research interests include acne, light and lasers, psoriasis and skin cancer. He has participated in several research studies financed by national public funds (FIS, MEC) as principal investigator or co-investigator (skin cancer, scleroderma, poxvirus, psoriasis and acne) Dr López Estebaranz received his M.D. degree from the Autonoma University School of Medicine of Madrid in 1987. He obtained his Ph.D degree in 1994 after the residency training at University Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid. He occupied the position of consultant dermatologist at Hospital 12 de Octubre from1994 to 1998 before obtaining the position of director of the department of Dermatology at University Hospital Fundación Alcorcon in Madrid. He is a member of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology, European Academy of Dermatology, the Iberoamerican Dermatology Association and the American and European Academy of Dermatology. He is the President of Sección Centro of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology since 2014 and VicePresident of CILAD. He is a member of the Spanish Psoriasis Group and has participated in the elaboration of Spanish psoriasis guidelines and monographs and the European Acne Guidelines. Dr López Estebaranz has authored and /or coauthored more than 200 dermatology papers and book chapters. He has received several prizes from the European and Spanish Academy of Dermatology. He has been awarded by the AAD president in 2017 and 2018. He is an editorial board member of several Spanish and International scientific journals.
