George KROUMPOUZOS Prof

I am the Founder and Medical Director of GK Dermatology, PC, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, a comprehensive facility specializing in dermatology, laser, and cosmetic surgery.  I am an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Brown University, and I have previously held positions as an Instructor at Harvard Medical School and as a Professor of Dermatology at Jundiaí Medical School in São Paulo, Brazil.
 
I earned an MD degree at Athens University School of Medicine in Athens, Greece, and a Ph.D. summa cum laude from the same institution. I then completed research fellowships in skin biology and molecular genetics at the Department of Dermatology, The Free University of Berlin, and the National Cancer Institute, NIH before starting a Dermatology Residency at the combined Boston/Tufts Universities Program. I am certified by both the American and European Boards of Dermatology.
 
I am an Associate Editor of Dermatologic Therapy, Frontiers in Medicine, and International Journal of Women's Dermatology, and Editor of the Aesthetic Dermatology section of Clinics in Dermatology. I have published over 165 peer-reviewed articles and 40 chapters and edited seven texts, including the definitive Text Atlas of Obstetric Dermatology, showcasing my commitment to advancing scholarly work in Dermatology. My contributions extend beyond publications, as I have directed forums and symposia at national and international meetings for over 20 years.
 
My research interests include aesthetic/procedural dermatology, including female genital aesthetics and complications of injectables, gynecologic/obstetric dermatology, psychocutaneous disease, including body dysmorphic disorder and psychology of aesthetics, and pigmentation disorders. My impactful research publications have been cited in the Dean of Alpert Medical School announcements at Brown University. I am the recipient of several scholarships and awards, including awards from the International Union Against Cancer, Yamagiwa-Yoshida International Cancer Fellowship, New England Dermatologic Society, and the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award at Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
