Case description

39 year old male with no known comorbidties and no known drug allergy presented to the clinic with a raised umblicated lesion from past 3 months on the chin.

Patient had no previous history, no other medical issues , he was not on any medications. No family history of skin cancers.

No excessive sun exposure.

O/e - 1 cm dome shaped nodule - umblicated in centre on the chin, soft on palpation and mobile.

As patient was travelling to another country on the same day he requested to get it removed.

I suggested surgical excision and cautery for rhe patient. He didnt want the stiches so he opted for cautery.

I told him all the post care instructions and side effects of the procedure.

My primary diagnosis was solitary molluscum contagiosum and i was pretty confident of the diagnosis clinically.

While performing the procedure i noticed there was no molluscum body  , but no other finding was found. The lesion seemed hollow. There was somw bleeding

Hemostasis was obtained in around 5 minutes and orherwise procedure was unevebtful.

I advised patwint to follow up with a dermat to the country he was travelking in casw he notices any recurence , or any new lesions and i am in contact ane montiroing patient via pictures on email.

The only mistake  i did , i didnt send biopsy of oatient.

I am feeling stressed whether this could be orher tumors like keratoacanthoma or worse scc and i distorted the morphology for biopsy by performing cautery.

I am keeping a close check on the patient.

Its just day 4 today post cautery.

But thinkinf about  via i didnt send a biopsy and made a major mistake.

Unfortunatley i donr have oictures of the lesion.
