Dr Roger WIXTROM

Biografía

Dr. Roger Wixtrom is a board-certified toxicologist and is president of LSCI. Born in 1959, he holds a doctorate in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of California, Davis and was a postdoctoral scholar at the University Of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. For the past 25 years, Dr. Wixtrom has devoted a majority of his time to evaluating and addressing issues related to the safety of breast implants, in addition to a range of other silicone medical devices and other medical products. Such work has involved assistance with design and interpretation of a multitude of preclinical and clinical studies; presentations before the FDA, Health Canada and the Institute of Medicine; regular attendance at plastic surgery, biomaterials, toxicology and biofilm conferences; and very extensive critical review of the scientific and medical literature. A primary focus of his is the role of biofilms in capsular contracture and surgical infections, and Dr. Wixtrom is a frequent lecturer at physician meetings, seminars and conferences worldwide.
