What first inspired you to become a dermatologist?
During my 4th year of education in medical university I started my work in a small dermatological clinic as a nurse. These were my first steps in dermatology.
Which three words define dermatology for you?
Skin, cream, aesthetics.
You’ve said that your main commitment is the field of research and development. Why is this area of such importance to you?
Because research gives us a clear understanding of our real possibilities and opens up new areas of treatment.
You have actively participated in several IMCAS congresses in recent years. What do you find most rewarding about speaking at the congresses?
The most rewarding aspects of these congresses are communication, networking and new knowledge.
Several of your IMCAS lectures have been on complications. What attracts you to exploring this topic?
Talking of complications delivers a great mission to prevent trouble for patient and doctors. Also it explores lot of knowledge and different methods.
What do you consider to be your biggest career achievement so far?
The creation of the Aesthetic Consilium group and participation in the IMCAS Eastern European Masterclass.
How does dermatology in Ukraine compare to dermatology in Europe in general?
Aesthetic medicine in Ukraine is very strong. We have a lot of clinics that use many technologies and have qualified doctors. But classical dermatology, especially funded by the government, needs improvement.
If you had to choose just one procedure to perform for the rest of your career, what would it be and why?
Thread lifting. Because it gives real results with a good safety profile.
What do you see on the horizon for dermatology?
Development of new biological technologies like stem cells, transplantology, monoclonal antibodies. I see huge development in aesthetic medicine and it will deliver treatment not only for the skin but the whole organism.
How would you like to be remembered?
I would be happy to be remembered by my work.
Dr Rudenko is one of the topic coordinators for IMCAS Academy's newest service, IMCAS Alert.
