Dr. Esther MIDDELKOOP

Professor Dr. Esther Middelkoop studied chemistry at the University of Utrecht,

and obtained a PhD in biochemistry.

She supervises the research activities of the Association of Dutch Burn Centres, and holds a chair in Skin Regeneration and Wound Healing at the VU Medical Centre in Amsterdam.

Her special research focus is on Tissue Engineered Skin and Skin Replacement Materials, both in basic and in clinical research.

Esther Middelkoop participates actively in the European Tissue Repair Society, served as a Board Member during 10 years (president 2003-2004) and is also Board Member of the Scar Club, now Global Scar Society G-Scars (Montpellier).
