Dr. Gerhard SATTLER

Gerhard Sattler is a dermatologic surgeon from Darmstadt, Germany, who has specialized in aesthetic dermatologic surgery. Following Jeffrey Klein’s tumescent technique liposuction, he introduced tumescent local anaesthesia into German medicine. Since 1989, he performed more than 13000 cases of liposuction, all in tumescent local anaesthesia. His second interest is in the field of augmentation, with fat or other biodegradable injectables, lately with vertical injection techniques in deep facial planes. As a past-president of the International Society for dermatologic surgery he has served between 2006 and 2008 and is currently one of two Senior Executive Directors of the ISDS. Also in numerous other scientific organisations, he is an active member. He has co-authored several German and English Textbooks on liposuction, fillers, Botulinumtoxin and tumescent local anaesthesia, as well as several scientific publications. He is the founder and director of the Rosenparkklinik in Darmstadt, Germany, a centre for aesthetic dermatologic surgery and plastic surgery. This interdisciplinary institution coordinates dermatologists, plastic surgeons, gynaecologists and anaesthesiologists for interdisciplinary individual approaches in aesthetic medicine and aesthetic surgery. 1992, Gerhard Sattler started the International Darmstadt-Live-Symposium, a congress which takes place every second year. This congress was one of the first ones with live transmission over a period of 3 days with more than 50 surgeries and a worldwide surgical faculty. The future goals of Gerhard Sattler are to develop cosmetic surgery even further in order to offer high quality state-of-the-art medical and surgical treatments to aesthetic patients. Also he dedicates his energy into the development of a respectful reputation of cosmetic (dermatologic) surgery in the open public.
