Dr. Or FRIEDMAN

Prof. Or Friedman is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and Head of Research and Development at Mayanei HaYeshua Medical Centre, a Tel Aviv University affiliated hospital. He graduated from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, and completed his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Tel Aviv Medical Center. He also holds an MBA and an LLB from Tel Aviv University.

He holds academic appointments at the Dina Recanati School of Medicine, Reichman University, and at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Tel Aviv University. At Reichman University he heads the Center for the Study of Art, History and Law in Medicine and chairs the Arts in Medicine program. He received the Outstanding Researcher 2026 award of the Dina Recanati School of Medicine.

Prof. Friedman was awarded the first Kahn Foundation grant for outstanding physician researchers, with which he established a basic plastic surgery research laboratory. His research spans clinical outcomes in aesthetic and body contouring surgery, informed consent and body image, health law and platform governance, and the medical humanities. He is the author of “Consent By Design: Platform Governance and Patient Choice in Aesthetic Medicine” (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2026).

He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the International Confederation of Plastic Surgery Societies. He serves as Surgery Section Editor of SAGE Open Medicine and SAGE Open Medical Case Reports, and on the editorial boards of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open and Scientific Reports.
