Strategy differences male and female patients using hybrid injectable fillers
Objectives: - Describe the differences in assesssment between male and female patients when treating them with fillers
-Summarize special gender considerations in facial anatomy and aging process
-Discuss the male and female treatment planning using fillers avoiding undesired masculinization or feminization of the face.
Introduction: The use of injectables has grown in popularity in recent years. It is crucial for the injector the correct assessment and treatment planning of the patient before the filler injections to avoid undesired masculinization or feminization of the face. As usual, the injector may choose biodegradable fillers like hyaluronic acid because they are safe, reversible with long-lasting results. Calcium hydroxyapatite is also safe and effective. Recently, there has been an option with both products in the same syringe, the hybrid product.
Materials / method: The author presents special considerations to use hybrid product in male and female patient based in a follow up of 3 years, more then 100 patients , single center of study. The author is involved in a retrospective study on the safety of the hybrid product as principal investigator in a multicenter study in Brazil.
Results: The audience will be able to recognize the differences between male and female facial treatments with filler injections using hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxyapatite and hybrid product minimizing the risk of complications and unwanted effects.
Conclusion: The use of filler treatments with hybrid product is a new and safe option for injectors when treating male and female patients respecting gender differences.
