Abstract

Objectives: Sharing my own experience in treating melasma of patients with skin of color and comparing chemical peels pivotal role in same compared to lasers and Ebds as darker skin types are more prone to worsening of melasmas with little mishaps in the parameters of lasers. Also because of the tendency of self medications cligman formula and hydroquinone has their own limitations in darker skin. Where our several patients has benefitted with our combination chemical peels with very less concentration of hydroquinone and other safer skin tightening agents and they have been able to maintain results too Introduction: Melasma being a disorder of multifaceted etiologies to it's origin nothing is still full proof and always has been challenging in Indian skin and In other patients of skin of color as they are prone to get exacerbation In pigments of the melasma due to ethnicity and also lack of awareness and socioeconomic background. Treatment options are of wide range but still in darker patients options are always limited and vulnerable to lasers as melasma is very unpredictable with all modalities. Out of then all combination chemical peels has been easy to go procedure for even new dermatologist and safe. Materials / method: We have tried chemical peels in most of the patients with melasma even we have seen that the melasma which has not responded to lasers or which has got exacerbated because of lasers and ebds even those we have been able to reduce with combination peels and safer lightning agents. We will discuss few of very interesting cases of our happy patients which we have achieved with the combination chemical peels after they have come to us after failing in lasers for the same with other dermatologists. And several success stories like that. Results: It has been very effective and safe option with the predictability in the outcomes. Conclusion: It can be considered a primary adjuvent therapy option In patients with skin of color after topical and systemic therapy where there is doubt with the other modalities.
