Abstract

Objectives: Review the pathophysiology and classification of rosacea Discuss updates in topical and oral treatments Explore procedural treatments Address rosacea triggers and the importance of skincare in rosacea management Introduction: To discuss updates in the medical and procedural treatments for rosacea with a focus on most recent advances in therapy as well as the importance of skincare in rosacea management. Materials / method: Review of the current literature for innovative treatments for rosacea as well as a discussion of extensive clinical experience. Results: Treatments for rosacea are most effective when tailored to the specific disease phenotype. Our rosacea armamentaria has significantly improved with a number of new treatment options developed in the last few years as well as several innovative technologies. Conclusion: Rosacea is a multifactorial disease that should be treated with combination treatments with an emphasis on the phenotypic presentation of the patient. Procedural treatments like KTP and PDL lasers can be combined with oral medications and a variety of topical treatments for effective rosacea treatment. A discussion of skincare and rosacea triggers is also essential to management.
