Abstract

Objectives: Unfortunately, facial nerve paralysis after trepanation surgery on the skull base reaches 30% of patients, while facial nerve paralysis after operations on the auditory nerve reaches almost 100%. Rehabilitation of such patients is usually carried out by neurologists. In my clinic, I have organized the treatment of patients with facial nerve paralysis by inventing methods of lifting threads. Introduction: The most well-known and widely used classifications of facial nerve damage are the House-Brackmann scales, which compare the movement of the paralyzed and non-paralyzed sides. The first method of correction is to use botulinum toxin injections to change facial muscle activity. However, facial muscles also play a structural role, which can be supplemented with threads. Materials / method: Our study was included on 20 patients aged 35 to 60 who suffered from facial nerve paralysis after undergoing craniotomy. The first stage of treatment involved the application of botulinum toxin on the healthy side. The second stage of treatment involved the application of lifting threads on the paralyzed side to lift the ptotic tissues. The results were measured one month after the second stage using the House-Brackmann scale, the visual analog scale, and the quality of life scale. Results: According to the results obtained, 90% of patients received an improvement of 70.5% on the House-Brackmann scale, and 100% improvement on the visual analog scale and the quality of life scale. All patients were satisfied with the treatment and noted an improvement in their appearance and quality of life. Conclusion: Thread lifting is not only an excellent technique in anti-aging medicine, but it can also help with medical problems such as facial nerve paralysis.
