To clarify: Unnecessary injection of the lateral corrugators, especially when the dosage and/or injection point position are too high, can result in aesthetically undesirable eyebrow spread - as I mentioned in the Debate - and make the base of the nose appear wider.

Dr. Ho, thanks for his question. Please listen to the comment I made at the end of the Debate and Q&A (5th section of the webinar) regarding the individualized facial analysis, and the 3-point injection technique for the glabella. Many women, Asians of both genders, and men with small muscle mass, do not have sufficient overactivity of the lateral corrugators to justify their injection. If we do inject them, we should do so with lower doses and/or intracutaneous technique. For more on this topic, here are 2 recent publications: - Sundaram H, Signorini M, Liew S, Trindade de Almeida AR, Wu Y, Vieira Braz A, Fagien S, Goodman GJ, Monheit G, Raspaldo H; Global Aesthetics Consensus Group. Global Aesthetics Consensus: Botulinum Toxin Type A--Evidence-Based Review, Emerging Concepts, and Consensus Recommendations for Aesthetic Use, Including Updates on Complications. Plast Reconstr Surg. 2016;137(3):518e-529e. - Sundaram H, Huang P-H, Hsu, N-J, Chang H, Wu W, Wu Y, Cassuto D, Kerscher, M, Seo, K. Aesthetic Applications of Botulinum Toxin Type A in Asians: An International, Multidisciplinary, Pan-Asian Consensus. Plast Reconstr Surg Global Open (in press). Hope this helps! Kind regards, Hema Sundaram

How can we avoid the enlargement of the base of the nose after botulinum toxin treatment of the glabella ( with 5U on the processus-inter canthal distance, and 5U on each side of the corrugater)
