Male vs female skin: what dermatologists and plastic surgeons should know!

Objectives: The aim of this presentation is to present the gender related differences due to facial ageing.

Introduction: The skin is the largest multifunctional organ in the body. Understanding the physiological, anatomical, chemical and biophysical characteristics of the skin helps us to develop a proper approach to reduce age related skin changes and skin diseases.

Materials / method: This presentation gives a profound scientific related overview of gender and age related skin changes and its impact on evidence based medicine (EBM).

Results: There are gender related differences in skin architecture and in skin ageing, which are of significant importance for dermatologists and plastic surgeons.

Toxins and fillers in male patients: what's the difference?

Objectives: The male aesthetic patient: Discussion about the anatomical differences to women and the right use of toxins and fillers to enhance the male patient looking young, attractive, successful and still male.

Introduction: The number of non-surgical aesthetic treatments in male patients is increasing rapidly (94% in 5 years). But male aesthetic needs are totally different from female aesthetic needs. Facial aging is usually more apparent in women cause of the epidermal and dermal thickness. But men can loose their youthful and fresh look by sagging and volume loss too. How to treat a male patient right?

Materials / method: To enhance the male face the use of toxins and fillers has to be different than in a female patient - though you might use the same products. The amount and placement of the products needs to be on point to not feminize your patients.

Results: Different techniques like filler injections to enhance cheeks, chin and jawline might enhance the male look. The use of toxins will make your male patient look more relaxed and youthful.

Conclusion: How to obtain the natural male look with botulinum toxin and fillers? Know and respect the male anatomy and learn techniques and strategies to avoid undesired results. Make your patients look more male to have more success in business, dating and social life.
