Objectives: To review the role of exosomes in skin care in 2024.
Introduction: Exosomes have become a mainstay of the regenerative medicine space in the past few years. Many new products are being introduced to clinicians claiming that their exosome products are the next frontier for aesthetic health care providers. In the United States, exosomes are only to be used as topical therapies; injections of these products are prohibited by the US FDA. For that reason, several new skin care cosmeceuticals have emerged to be used to aide clinicians in reversing the signs of aging and in hair growth applications.
Materials / method: This presentation will review the currently available skin care products containing exosomes, the clinical data that supports these products, and the results that can be obtained from using them.
Results: Exosomes in skin care products can have a profound input in skin care in helping reverse the signs of aging skin and also in aiding in hair growth – all potential benefits for our patients.
