Objectives: Describe drug delivery modalities
Explore the potential of dermal drug delivery through tattoo machines

Introduction: Drug Delivery is a hot topic in dermatology. New techniques have emerged in the past decade but cannot surpass the >5,000 old tattoing technique in terms of dermal delivery.
Materials / method: This lecture will compare mesotherapy (deep dermal injection) with the tattooing method (papillary dermis delivery). And show how ineffective microneedling devices are in delivering black ink to the dermis (and fluid / medication).
Results: The tattooing method is effective in delivering injectable sterile medications such as dutasteride and minoxidil. The median improvement in men after 3 sessions is 10% regrowth of the top scalp surface area (equivalent to 4 thumbprints).
Conclusion: Drug delivery with tattoo machines is a game changer in hair therapy.
