Objectives: Asian skin has characteristic features that makes cutaneous treatment unique. Asian skin type varies from Fitzpatrick skin type 3 to type 6. Their skin is more easily irritated compared to Caucasian skin. They are more prone to developed post inflammatory hyper and hypo pigmentation. Introduction: All cutaneous aethetic procedures are elective procedure carried out for non medical indication.
Materials / method: To avoid complilcations it is important to assess each patient very carefully before deciding on which procedure is best suited for the individuals. Know your anatomy well and avoid injury vessels and nerves when injecting fillers and toxins. Treatment options and possible complications should be explained to the patients in details and the final decision must be decided by the patient followed by an informed consent. Pre-procedure photography is essential to provide a baseline record of the patient
Results: In general when using lasers and light devices for skin rejuvenation, the right choice of laser wavelengths, fluence, pulsed duration are very important to avoid complication and improve efficaciousness. The treatment interval and the duration of treatment are important parameters to monitor to minimize early and late complication. Using cooling procedures may help prevent epidermal injury.. Watch for risk factors to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and hypertrophic scarring and adjust the fluence accordingly. Skin cooling can help reduce injury to the skin that can lead to PIH.
Conclusion: With proper pre-procedure assessment and conservative treatment protocol, the risk of complications from aesthetic procedure can be minimized.
