Objectives: This session explores the capabilities of the Fotona PQX Picosecond Laser beyond traditional pigmentation treatments, focusing specifically on maximizing its pico energy potential to effectively address skin rejuvenation concerns, including texture, fine lines, and pores.
Introduction: Picosecond lasers are well-known for treating pigmentation and clearing tattoos, but their role may extend further into skin rejuvenation. Fotona PQX features high peak power and dual handpieces—full-beam and fractional—designed to effectively target both superficial and deeper skin layers, reaching depths of up to 3 mm. This combination enables comprehensive improvement in skin texture, fine lines, pores, and overall skin quality, suggesting broader applications beyond pigmentation treatment alone.
Materials / method: This study included 10 Asian patients with Fitzpatrick skin types III–V, presenting with varying signs of skin aging features such as texture irregularities, enlarged pores, and fine lines. Each participant underwent five sessions of Fotona PQX treatment at 3-week intervals.
Results: VISIA analysis at 4 weeks after the final treatment showed visible improvement in overall skin quality, including texture, fine lines, and pore appearance across all participants. Mild adverse effects such as transient erythema, petechiae, and pruritus were observed in some patients, all resolving within 7 days. No severe or permanent complications were reported.
Conclusion: The Fotona PQX picosecond laser demonstrated promising results beyond pigmentation and tattoos, showing improvements in skin texture, fine lines, and pores. With a favorable safety profile and no long-term adverse effects, it offers an effective and well-tolerated option for comprehensive skin rejuvenation.
