Objectives: BACKGROUND: Recent techniques in Lipoabdominoplasty have included many remarkable improvements since the first described procedure. However, postop results (lack of natural appearance, high scars, navel deformities and “tense” abdomen) are still challenges for all surgeons. Thus, we are describing our experience in a quite different performance in tummy tuck.

Introduction: BACKGROUND: Recent techniques in Lipoabdominoplasty have included many remarkable improvements since the first described procedure. However, postop results (lack of natural appearance, high scars, navel deformities and “tense” abdomen) are still challenges for all surgeons. Thus, we are describing our experience in a quite different performance in tummy tuck.

Materials / method: METHODS: From January 2005 to September 2017, 765 consecutive VASER Assisted Lipoabdominoplasties were performed. Only healthy women with a normal body mass index were included. Ages ranged from 26 to 67 years (mean = 38 years). A 3-step procedure was performed: 1. Truncal Liposculpture. 2. dermolipectomy and plication of the rectus abdominis muscle. 3. Neo-umbilicoplasty through an innovative Butterfly technique. The follow-up included photos and medical assessment with a mean of 2 years (up to 5 years). A non-standardized survey was performed in order to self-evaluate the results.

Results: RESULTS: About 668 patients answered the survey (91%). Most patients were satisfied with the procedure ( 92.5%). There were 4 cases of flap suffering with no losses. Physical means were necessary to solve the problem. Minor complications were reported: seroma (7.3%), prolonged bruising (10%) and swelling (18%). Neither flap necrosis nor infections were reported. Neoumbilicoplasty was performed in all patients. Additional procedures were required in 4.6%, including further liposuction, neo-umbilicoplasty re-touch and other not related to abdominoplasty.

Conclusion: CONCLUSIONS: EVE Tummy Tuck is an original technique that has successfully overcome the abdominoplasty procedure stigmata. The coadjutant liposuction through 3rd generation ultrasound improves the general shape. The low scar can be successfully hidden with the underwear. The umbilical positioning over the abdominal wall is critical to obtain natural results. This procedure needs a long learning curve in order to get ideal results. The rate for complications was low taking into account the amount of consecutive patients.
