Objectives: High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment is a very common procedure for skin and soft tissue tightening of the face, neck and decollate. With its spread, the number of cases of complications increases. There are transient erythema, edema, ecchymosis, nerve paralysis and scars.

Introduction: Cases of complications and treatment of transient erythema, edema, ecchymosis, nerve paralysis and scars are described.

Materials / method: Retrospective cases of patients from practice who developed different side evffects after HIFU treatment

Results: Patients developed erythema and edema, urticarial reactions or induration, focal bruising blistering, nerve dysfunction, and scars.

Conclusion: The side effects and complications of HIFU can be prevented and understated. Early treatment of complications includes local wound care, topical corticosteroids, LED, PRP to alleviate inflammatory complications.

Objectives: Learn about the application of 3D-Cryolipolysis on the submental and lateral neck fat deposits and its safety and efficacy.

Investigate the outcomes after 2,5-6 months follow-up and compare with other available treatments for these areas

Introduction: Submental and lateral neck areas are quite challenging to improve.
3D-Cryolipolysis is a non invasive technique for localized fat reduction using 360°cooling technology offering a uniformly distributed cooling effect .
We investigated the efficacy and safety of the technique when applied to these areas.

Materials / method: A prospective study of patients treated with one session of 3D-cryolipolysis,on submental and lateral neck fat deposits,was performed.Clinical outcomes were assessed using skin fold caliper measurements,patient surveys (according to GAIS 5-point scale)and 2 blinded plastic surgeons photographs evaluation.Skin tightening of the treated areas was also recorded.The studies were conducted using a non-invasive medical device for cryolipolysis. All patients received gentle massage of the treated area for 3 minutes and the follow up ranged from 2,5- 6 months

Results: 34 patients (23 women/11 men),were enrolled in our study from June-October 2018.Their mean age was 50 years old and their mean BMI was 26 (21- 32).Pre- and post-treatment caliper measurements comparison demonstrated significant reduction(25-50%) of the treated areas at 2.5 months.28 patients marked the results very much/much improved, 4 improved, 2 no change and 0 worse.Plastic surgeons photographs assessment demonstrated in 76% very much/much improvement,16% improvement, 8% no change.No deterioration of the treated areas skin laxity was observed, but the opposite.Minimal side effects recorded

Conclusion: 3D-Cryolipolysis is a safe, well tolerated and effective non invasive localized fat reduction technique even for more difficult areas, like the submental and the lateral neck . The majority of patients noticed quite satisfactory sculpting results without the side effects of invasive procedures or the downtime of the injectable lipolysis. Moreover, as an extra bonus effect, skin tightening can be almost regularly observed.
