Objectives: The aim of this work is to show how the Aerolase Neo Elite, using 650-microsecond technology enables new, safe, and effective treatment options previously not well addressed by energy-based devices for the most common skin conditions, including acne, melasma and hyperpigmentation, psoriasis, facial redness, and aesthetic medical conditions for skin of color.
Introduction: These most common skin conditions currently treated with medications, which are increasingly problematic with concerns including over-dispensing of medication, side effects, patient adherence, as well as increased costs to society. Device-based treatment options represent a modern treatment option with limited versatility, efficacy, and commonly incur safety risks when addressing darker skin types. The Aerolase Neo Elite, using 650-microsecond technology delivers a modern, device-based treatment, better patient experiences and outcomes without safety risks.
Materials / method: An air-cooled LightPod 650 Microsecond 1064nm laser was used to address patients with skin concerns including acne, melasma and hyperpigmentation, psoriasis, and facial redness. The 1064 nm wavelength is inherently attracted to hemoglobin, melanin, and water in the skin. These three chromophores represent the targets for each presented condition. The high-energy but short-pulsed 650 microsecond 1064 nm laser delivers increased efficacy without complications as the epidermal exposure is at least 50 times shorter than a typical millisecond Nd:YAG laser.
Results: The Aerolase Neo Elite laser platform with a 650 Microsecond 1064 nm pulse duration shows to be advantageous in addressing the causative factors of acne, melasma and hyperpigmentation, psoriasis, and facial redness for patients of all ages and skin types including darker skin. All patients reported clearance of their concerns and better quality, tone, and texture of their skin. No reports of damage to the skin, pigmentary change, or pain during treatment was recorded even without skin cooling.
Conclusion: The Aerolase Neo Elite laser platform modernizes and simplifies the treatment of common skin conditions including acne, melasma and hyperpigmentation, psoriasis, and facial redness by enabling in-office treatment with a single device and modality to provide complete and comprehensive skin rejuvenation for patients of all ages and skin types. Furthermore, the platform reduces the risk of antibiotic overuse and systemic side effects, increases patient adherence, and offers quicker clearance rates than conventional therapies.
