Objectives: analysis of gender characteristics of male and female faces
Introduction: Few years ago, aesthetic medicine was a service mostly for female, but year by year there are more and more male patients.
There are some psychologic specifics of male and female patients, which should be taken into account.
Materials / method: analysis of gender features of male and female faces, which have an impact on the approaches to esthetic correction.
Results: Usually male patients want to get quick results. They don't want severe rehabilitation, they don't want to feel pain, usually they don't read about methods of treatment. They don't have certain complains, they want to became more handsome and young. Usually they follow doctors recommendations exactly. They are more loyal to the doctor.
Female patients usually ready for long, step by step treatment, they are ready for rehabilitation and painful treatment. Women usually read a lot about deferent methods in aesthetic medicine and know what and how they want to treat. They look a lot on themselves and know every wrinkle in their faces. They are looking for the miracle, and they can try different doctors, which were seen in different social networks.
It’s very important to take into account gender specifics, planning male or female correction in order not to get caricatural result.
The animators of the Walt Disney Company underlined gender features of princes and princesses faces to prettify them. Analyzing beautiful princes and princesses faces we can see gender specifics for male and female faces.
Specific for male faces are: straight line of eyebrows, straight line of upper eyelid, mandibular emphatic corner, round or square chin, longer upper lip, plane infraorbital area, prominent cheekbones.
Specific for female faces are: triangular face shape, eyebrow’s line with elevated corner and eyebrow’s tail, round shape of the upper eyelid, volume in the area of cheekbones and in the midface, expressive lips.
Conclusion: The correction of masculine face is contemporary and difficult esthetic procedure. It’s necessary to take into account gender features, which enhearten face, and individual features of facial skeletal pattern and soft tissues.
