Objectives: To understand that toxins might not have only visual but also emotional effects.
Introduction: Toxins and emotions. What can toxins do and how does it matter?
Materials / method: Entirely eminence based
Results: Patient wise there are two major types. The more common type is the patient who want to conceal the effects of aging and/or the negative impression of frowning. These are well studied patients. In any glabella toxin trial increased patient satisfaction and may be also happniness has been documented. Are these feelings different than e.g. having your hair done, or buying a Hermes scarf? May be. And there are also patients who use toxin to hide their emotions. These are the commonly overtoxed patients with minimized mimics. These patients want to have a neutral look which can not be read.
Conclusion: Toxins can help to boost positive emotions and also helpful hiding emotions. But be aware that the majority of patients just want to have the signs of aging reduced. Do not psychologize them to much.
