Objectives: Thread lifting is a very popular treatment among those offered from dermatologists and plastic surgeons. It is regarded relatively safe but we have to keep in mind several tips in order to avoid serious and permanent complications.
Introduction: Facial ptosis is a matter of great concern for both women & men of some age .
The increased interest in minimally-invasive treatments, resulted in a constant research among doctors and companies in order to offer new treatment options .
Thread lifting is one of them with promising results and relatively low risk of complications and minimum downtime.
Materials / method: A review of the reported malpractice incidents and complications is going to be analyzed , evaluating data given from litrature publications as well as personal experience from the daily practice.
Results: In the majority of patients the complications included post-operation asymmetry , ecchymosis, edema, erythema ,hemorrhage ,mild transitory esthesia etc. Most of the complications were due to poor experience and ability to evaluate the depth of skin tissue injection . It is regarded that with adequate training most of these incidents can be easily avoided.
Conclusion: Thread lift is a safe procedure associated with minor complications and often great results when practitioners gradualy improve their technique and keep in mind all the potential pitfalls.
