Rawaa Almukhtar, MD is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained laser and cosmetic dermatologic surgeon specializing in the practice of both cosmetic and medical dermatology. 

Dr. Almukhtar completed her medical education at Al-Nahrain University, College of Medicine in Baghdad, Iraq where she ranked first among medical graduates in the country and graduated to become the youngest doctor to graduate medical school in the country at the age of 21.  

Dr. Almukhtar was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to earn a master’s degree in epidemiology from Louisiana State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Chancellor award. 

She completed her dermatology residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans where she served as chief resident during her final year. Subsequently, Dr. Almukhtar completed a prestigious laser and cosmetic surgery fellowship program at Cosmetic Laser Dermatology in La Jolla, California. During her fellowship, she was involved in cutting-edge clinical research for novel cosmetic treatments involving fillers, neuromodulators, lasers, vein treatments, tumescent liposuction, and minimally invasive body contouring.

Dr. Almukhtar has authored several peer reviewed publications as well as presented at local, national, and international meetings. She has also written multiple textbook chapters on injectables, lasers and energy-based devices among other subjects. 

She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), and Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS). She is also an active member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS). She also serves as a reviewer for a number of  journals including Dermatologic Surgery and Laser in Surgery and Medicine journals.
