Katsuyuki FUJINAMI

Industry Representative

Japan

Biography

Born in 1974 in Kunitachi City, Tokyo Prefecture, Katsuyuki Fujinami graduated from Hosei University in 1998 and joined the NTT Group. He later entered the family business, Fujinami Towel Service, which was renamed FSX, Inc. in 2016. As the managing director and CEO, Fujinami has expanded the company's focus beyond manufacturing and renting "oshibori" (wet hand towels) to international markets.

Under his leadership, FSX introduced oshibori infused with "VB (Virus Block)" technology in 2012, developed in collaboration with Tokyo Institute of Technology and Keio University Medical School. This innovation spurred Fujinami's interest in virus research and the development of antiviral products. He has actively combined his business acumen with empirical research, contributing to the field of virology. Notably, he presented at an international symposium in Dubai in 2012 and co-authored a significant paper in the journal "Pharmacology" in 2019.

In a recent development, Fujinami co-authored a study published in 2021 in "Applied Sciences" that examined the anti-aging effects of polyoxometalates on skin cells. This research explored how these compounds can reduce oxidative stress in skin cells, potentially inhibiting the aging process by mitigating effects like wrinkles and skin laxity. This represents a significant stride in linking his company's technological innovations with scientific advancements in skincare.
