Biography

Current position- Director and founder of the Starnberg skin center- Professor of medicine at Munich University (Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität)- Tutor of the Munich-Harvard-Alliance and senior consultant dermatologist Dr. Heckmann is an internationally renowned expert on botulinum toxin. His studies and clinical trials published in the New England Journal of Medicine and other high-impact journals have revolutionized the use of botulinum toxin in modern dermatology and were honored with the prestigious Justinus Kerner Prize at the world congress of toxins. As board member of numerous advisory panels, he is a highly valued speaker around the globe actively participating in advancing and teaching state-of-the-art topics in aesthetic medicine, dermatologic surgery and best clinical practice. Recent advances include the use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) for detecting early skin cancer und quantitative analysis of skin changes after treatment.
