Combined laser assisted treatment for permanent hair removal for skin types I-V with Alexandrite 755nm and ND:YAG 1064nm lasers

Objectives: Permanent hair removal with a combination of Alexandrite 755nm and ND:YAG 1064nm lasers

Introduction: We will present the effectiveness of the combination of Alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers in combined mode with simultaneous emission.

Materials / method: The treatments were performed with a combined Alexandrite 755 nm device and Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser in order to provide both wavelengths in a single simultaneous emission.

Results: The evaluation was entrusted externally after 5 treatment sessions and emerged an improvement of an average of 80% for all body parts. Data on skin reactions were also collected: they were all acceptable and transiently resolved in less than 7 days.

Conclusion: The level of erythema and perifollicular edema are the final signals of the endpoint of the treatment; first degree burns, hyper or hypopigmentation were observed, but all resolved before the follow-up visit without any permanent skin effect.
There were no adverse events.

Objectives: Laser hair removal (and IPL hair removal) represent one of the most frequent procedures worldwide, and the main benefits of Energy-Based Devices (EBD) hair removal is represented by saving time, smoother skin, and save money. Because of the frequency of the procedures, there are a lot of competition (other doctors, home devices, and cosmetic salons).

Introduction: The approach of the procedure must start with the first consultation of the patients for hair removal to establish both the contraindications and the management plan, including setting the expectations of the patient.

Patients need to understand that options vary with efficiency, the degree of discomfort, and cost. Each procedure involves a specific degree of efficiency, cost, the possibility of adverse reactions.

Materials / method: The laser procedure limits are strongly connected with many factors like nature (hair color, associated diseases, the presence of nevi or tattoos in the areas to be treated, etc.), patient preparation, doctors’ professional training, the technology used, and doctor-patient communication.

There are many factors that you must think about before you choose your device, respectively wavelength, pulse duration, cooling methods, spot, pulse repetition frequency, the possibility to use all year round, power, fluency, etc.

Results: When you promote your practice, don't forget the advantages of laser interventions performed by medical staff, establish a “relationship” with the patient, schedule other types of intervention, develop long-term relationships, and safety and efficiency.

Conclusion: In conclusion, laser intervention for hair removal increasing a patient’s quality of life (health and beauty, more time, more money, fewer side effects, etc.) and provide time, money, and happiness in the long term.
