Objectives: Since their invention, LASERs have become ubiquitous affecting every different component of our daily lives. Medical advancements related to same has grown exponentially, with many devices offered in the commercial markets. Yet, little understanding on the science still remains resulting in both inadequate & over-use. In this presentation, Dr Edward Ngwenya simplifies LASERs. Beginning with the history of LASER, he further delves into the quantum mechanics, properties, components, and types of LASERs. He closes off with the clinical applications and basic principles for using a LASER device
