Effects of Polynucleotide dermal filler in the correction of crow’s feet using an Antera three-dimensional camera (Sponsored by BR PHARM)

Objectives: In this clinical study, we evaluated the effects of polynucleotide fillers subjectively using CFGS, global esthetic improvement scale (GAIS), and objectively using an Antera 3D camera. The Antera 3D camera is a threedimensional (3D) camera used to evaluate skin objective indicators and measure the texture and color of the skin by reconstructing 3D images. The Antera scoring system is a 3D imaging method that objectively presents images before and after treatment.

Introduction: Wrinkles are a major beauty-related concern faced by middle-aged adults, resulting in a growing demand for procedures for softening or removing wrinkle. Crow's feet are wrinkles spreading from the corner of the eyes and are naturally developed owing to the loss of collagen and elastic tissue in the skin with aging. The use of injectable agents has increased over recent years because of the demand for minimally invasive techniques and their simplicity. Recently, dermal fillers have received considerable interest in tissue enlargement and skin improvement.

Materials / method: This study was conducted at Wonju Severance Christian Hospital, Wonju, Korea. It involved 30 healthy volunteers aged 19-60 years with crow's feet grading score (CFGS) of 2-4 points. The exclusion criteria were as follows: received facial rejuvenation therapy (e.g., botulinum toxin and filler), history of skin disorder, immune disease, currently pregnant, and lactating. All subjects voluntarily participated in the study and were allowed to discontinue at any time during the study. The subjects provided written informed consent for the publication and use of their images.

Results: Figure 4 shows the photographs of crow's feet at baseline (v2) and 18 weeks (v8) after the first treatment with polynucleotide filler. Figure 5 shows the Antera 3D images of the crow's feet at baseline and 18 weeks after the first procedure.

Conclusion: In addition to improving crow's feet around the eyes, polynucleotide filler was observed to facilitate the improvement of pores, texture, and skin tone. Such activities are considered to enhance skin quality as well as wrinkles, in shallow wrinkles, such as around the eyes. Nevertheless, further prospective, larger, randomized, and controlled investigations are required to confirm our findings and to optimize polynucleotide filler injection in patient with severe crow's feet wrinkles for enhanced results.

Maximizing aesthetic results with the most powerful Monopolar radiofrequency: clinical techniques and strategies (Sponsored by TENTECH INC)

Introduction: With the growing popularity of non-invasive skin rejuvenation procedures, monopolar radiofrequency (RF) treatment has
emerged as a promising modality for skin lifting and tightening. This study aims to contribute to the existing knowledge by
conducting a split-face investigation into the impact of varying treatment parameters on the efficacy and safety of monopolar RF.

Materials / method: A rigorous split-face study design was employed, with each participant undergoing different treatments on opposing sides of the face. Parameters such as the number of shots per session, delivery method (gliding vs. stamping), energy levels, and mode of operation (Standard vs. Comfort) were systematically varied and evaluated.

Results: Results of this study revealed several key findings. Firstly, higher energy levels were associated with better aesthetic outcomes, with immediate results favoring higher energy settings. Additionally, anatomical asymmetry or variation among participants had a notable impact on treatment outcomes. Furthermore, real-time energy delivery on the patient’s skin differed between Standard and Comfort modes, indicating the influence of prolonged cooling times on energy delivery. The gate theory of pain revisited: modeling dif ferent pain conditions with a parsimonious neurocomputational model (Sponsored by BEIJING WEILI MEDICAL)

Objectives: with only excitatory connections from nociceptive and mechanoreceptors inputs.We are also going to demonstrate that when sensory and mechanorecep- tor stimulation are not the standard ones, the final parameters’ setpoint can be different and an anomalous pain condition can be produced.

Introduction: we study the case of breakthrough pain. It corresponds to a situation in which gate parameters cross an unstable equilibrium point before reaching the final equilibrium setup where a situation of intense pain prevails.

Materials / method: A critical aspect to reach a certain pain condition is the way sensory and noriceptive inputs are combined when they are input to the gate circuit. The four possible types of inputs combination are shown in Table 1 in which bit = 1 means presence and bit = 0 absence of input. Neurons used in the model belong to the very simplified rate-code neuron type: their outputs, representing their firing frequencies. In the rate-code output model, the probabilities of an action potential in the presynaptic and postsynap- tic neurons are, respectively, written as I and O.

Results: We will show that the conventional gate operation is achieved once gate parameters (intrinsic and synaptic plasticity) stabilize after a dynamic transitory period. When stimulation is not standard, due to external or internal factors, like demyelin- ation syndromes, modelled synaptic weights and thresholds spontaneously settle down in stability points that give rise to precisely the same nonstandard pain conditions associated with the nonstandard type of stimulation.

Conclusion: the pain conditions modelled by this simpler architecture are numerous: it models normal gate functioning, phantom limb pain condition, wind-up and wind-down pain, breakthrough pain, and demyelinating syndromes like Guillain-Barre and ́ multiple sclerosis. When stimulation is not standard, due to external or internal factors, like demyelination syndromes, modelled synaptic weights and thresholds spontaneously settle down in stability points that give rise to precisely the same nonstandard pain conditions associated with the nonstandard type of stimulation.

Objectives: The primary objective of this thisl study is to investigate how progerin accumulation and klotho protein deficiency affect the levels of hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin in the skin. Specifically, we aim to understand the molecular mechanisms through which these factors contribute to cellular dysfunction, impaired DNA repair, and increased cellular senescence.

Introduction: Aging is a multifaceted process that significantly impacts skin health, driven by various molecular mechanisms. Two key molecules involved in skin aging are progerin and the klotho protein. Progerin, a defective form of lamin A, is associated with accelerated aging and cellular dysfunction, while the klotho protein, known for its anti-aging properties, supports cellular longevity and resilience.

Materials / method: - Progerin Inhibition: A serine proteinase inhibitor analog effectively blocks progerin formation in dermal fibroblasts and keratinocytes.
- Klotho Activation: Plant-extract compounds stimulate Klotho synthesis by enhancing KL gene expression in dermal fibroblasts.
- Ex Vivo Study: Human skin explants cultured for 10 days with four applications of 2 mg/cm² enable precise progerin level quantification via immunostaining and image analysis.
- Preservatives: Utilization of preservatives with high tolerability and reduced water activity ensures formulation stability and safety.

Results: The Impact of declining collagen and elastin fiber synthesis from over expressive of progerin.

Conclusion: Through this research, we hope to identify novel therapeutic targets and develop effective anti-aging interventions that enhance skin health and longevity. Investigating the combined effects of progerin accumulation and klotho protein deficiency, we seek to uncover the molecular mechanisms leading to cellular dysfunction, impaired DNA repair, increased cellular senescence, compromised skin barrier integrity, and decreased collagen synthesis.

Introduction: In the cosmetics industry, there is an increasinglystrong preference for natural ingredients overchemical ones, a trend that is also impacting the aesthetic market. However, not all naturalingredients are equally beneficial. Certainsubstances, such as deoxycholic acid, are known tocause unpleasant side effects. Due to theseconcerns, there is a noticeable shift in Korea andJapan from deoxycholic acid-based injections tothose that utilize safer, natural ingredients forlipolysis

Materials / method: Before and after pictures to show differences in sideeffects between deoxycholic acid-based fatdissolving solutions and natural ingredient-basedfat dissolving solutions.

Results: Lipolysis injections based on natural ingredientsboast high safety and low rates of side effects.Although the efficacy may be somewhat lowercompared to products containing deoxycholic acid,the reduced side effects lead to higher customersatisfaction and allow for shorter intervals betweentreatments.

Conclusion: From the customer's perspective, the reduced riskof side effects enhances accessibility to treatments,and from the clinic's standpoint, an increase intreatment frequency improves profitability.Therefore, there is a clear advantage to usinglipolysis injections made with natural ingredients.

Evaluate the efficacy and safety of lidocaine-containing cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel(MaiLi-E) for chin augmentation treatment (Sponsored by SINCLAIR)

Objectives: The lower face is a significant aspect of the overall facial structure, reflecting the physiognomic characteristics of an individual, with the chin contour being a primary
factor influencing facial aesthetics.

As individuals age, the lower face undergoes gradual aging, leading to the appearance of skin laxity and subcutaneous tissue relaxation[1-3].

Chin augmentation using cross-linked hyaluronic acid(HA) injectables can effectively enhance facial appearance.

Introduction: In both men and women, having a well-defined chin is widely regarded as a hallmark of beauty and can significantly impact an individual's psychological and social well-being.

Ideally, the height of the chin should constitute around two-thirds of the lower facial area, and its projection should align with the pogonion meeting the perpendicular line from the nasion[4].

Hyaluronic acid (HA) injections have been extensively used for over a decade to augment chins and rejuvenate facial appearance, with a well-established track record of safety and efficacy[5-7].

Materials / method: This is a prospective, multicenter, randomized, no-treatment controlled, investigator blinded, superiority clinical trial (ChiCTR2200063817).

Between September 2022 to January 2024, 159 subjects with chin retrusion were randomized (2?1) in the test group (n=106) and in the no-treatment control group (n=53).

Response rate of chin augmentation at different visits ( at 6 month as assessed by third party independent investigators and at 1,3,6,9, 12 month as assessed by injection investigators) and GAIS scores as assessed by subjects were evaluated as efficacy endpoints.

Results: Response rates of chin augmentation improvement at 6 month (assessed by third-party independent blinded investigators)

Response rate of chin augmentation improvement in test group at 6 month after the last injection (assessed by a third-party independent blinded investigator) were 64.2%(95%Cl: 55.0%, 73.3%) , while in the control group were 20.8%(95%Cl: 9.8%, 31.7%) . The treatment was effective.

The test group exhibited a significantly higher improvement rate in chin augmentation compared to the control

Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the test medical device(MaiLi-E) was significantly more efficacious than the control group in chin augmentation at 1,3, and 6 month after treatment, and the test device efficacy maintained up to 12 month after treatment.

Additionally, the GAIS scores of subjects in the test group were significantly lower(better) than those in the control group at 1, 3, and 6 month following the last injection.

During the clinical trial, the test group was equivalent to the control group in terms of the incidences of various AEs, without device defects reported.
