Objectives: Various treatment modalities including invasive and non invasive methods such as fractional lasers, microdermabrasion, peelings, HIFU and high power radiofrequency (RF) needling are used for skin tightening via neocollagenesis.
Most of these treatments lead to temporary short or long lasting side effects like edema, erythema, scaring, hypo- or hyperpigmentation.
Introduction: Based on our experience of more than 4,500 RF treatments, we developed a novel method using low fluence, almost no side effects and no downtime. As there is limited inflammation, this method is effective also in the treatment of various fibroblast- and seborrhea-related skin disorders and leads to dermal and subdermal-related volume augmentation.
Materials / method: Patients received facial treatments with alterning sessions of low power Fractora(c) RF microneedling and non-invasive Fractora Forma over 3 month. Side by side comparison of pre- and post-treatment photographic assessment was taken both at their first visit and 6 month after the last treatment session.
Results: Improvement of skin tightening was visualised over the whole treatment area, especially in perioral and periorbital zones.
We noticed an important reduction of surgical- and acne-scars.
Surprisingly, we observed important volume augmentation of the zygomaticus and lateral cheek area leading to changes of the face shape which can be less explained by dermal neocollagenesis, but rather by changes in the subdermal layers.
What is more, this leads to reduction of sebaceous gland activity and can hence be used for treatment of pore refinement, oily skin, and seborrhea-related skin diseases like
Conclusion: Fractional RF treatment with low power is as effective for skin tightening as with high fluences - but has lower side effects. This method is a multi-tool in the treatment of various skin- and aesthetic disorders and leads to important subcutaneous volume augmentation.
