Objectives: 1.To see an alternative solution to wound healing in hair transplant FUE donor sites based upon a blinded prospective study in internal controls.

Introduction: In Hair Transplantation, Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a current technology which utilizes small punch biopsies to extract hair follicles from the back of the scalp and transplanting individual hairs to the desired area for a natural look. Aesthetic results in wound healing is critical in these patients
The purpose of this study is to evaluate if an innovative film-forming wound dressing is more effective than standard of care therapy in limiting the severity and duration of treatment site acute inflammatory reactions and wound healing time post FUE.

Materials / method: A randomized controlled single- blinded cross-over trial was conducted on 20 scalp transplantation patients.
Subjects were assessed by the blinded investigator immediately post-treatment and in 2 sessions (1 and 7 days after baseline) during the healing phase post-harvest. Photographs were taken at each time point global and macro.
The treatment product a film-forming wound dressing in the form of a gel specifically designed for the repair of compromised skin resulting from ablative procedures. The control product is a topical antibiotic.
The study’s primary outcome is healing response.

Results: Healing response was determined at each time point showing improved parameters and healing response with the tested topical device. This is illustrated in the macro photographs.

Conclusion: This study showed the efficacy of the innovative film-forming wound dressing vs. standard of care therapy, in order to provide evidence-based recommendations concerning the most appropriate post-FUE wound care product.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to clinically assess scar formation after three non-ablative fractional laser (NAFL)-exposures, targeting inflammation-, proliferation- and remodelling wound healing phases versus untreated controls.

Introduction: Within recent years, various lasers have been applied during wound healing to minimize scar formation. However, no consensus regarding treatment procedures exists.

Materials / method: A randomized, controlled trial was performed using a split-wound design to assess excisional wound-halves treated with 1540 nm NAFL versus no laser treatment. Three NAFL-exposures were provided respectively: immediately before surgery, at suture removal and six weeks after surgery. NAFL-exposures were applied using two hand-pieces, sequentially distributing energy deeply and more superficially in the skin (40-50mJ/microbeam). Evaluated at 3 months follow-up, primary outcome was blinded, on-site evaluation on Patient-Observer-Scar-Assessment-Scale (POSAS-total, range 6=normal skin to 60=worst i

Results: Thirty of 32 patients completed the trial. At three months follow-up, NAFL-treated scar halves showed improvement compared to untreated control halves on POSAS-total (NAFL-treated median 11[9-12] vs control median 12[10-16], P=.001). POSAS-subitems showed that NAFL-treated halves were significantly less red, more pliable, and presented with smoother relief compared to untreated controls.

Conclusion: In conclusion NAFL-treated scars showed improvement when compared to untreated control scars.
