Objectives: The Iranian Society of Dermatology (ISD) was formally established in 1969. The ISD acts as a consulting body to the Ministry of Health as well as the Iranian Medical Council on various issues in the field of dermatology. It also organizes training workshops and annual congresses in order to update the knowledge and skills of its members. The ISD has local chapters in major cities of Iran. Among a number of other journals, the ISD has been publishing the Iranian Journal of Dermatology in English since 1997 on a quarterly basis. This journal is currently indexed in Scopus.

Objectives: To present the aim of using injectables in case of neck aging and to discuss some specificities of this techniques in this location

Introduction: The aging process of the neck appear quite precociously by a wrinkling / loosening of the skin with flexural folds of varying intensity depending on the sun exposure of the concerned person, his genetic, the length of his neck, his flexion attitudes...
In addition, the mandibular and submandibular areas undergoes the effect of facial tissue sagging which makes the cervico-facial limits increasingly blurred. A double chin effect can aggravate this situation if there is a fat overload under the chin.

Materials / method: different medical techniques could be proposed to treat neck aging:
- Remodeling lasers, ultrasound, radiofrequency: for neocollagenesis stimulation
- Superficial peelings to improve both dermal and epidermal quality and thickness
- Fillers: in order to give more density to the skin. Esthetic aspect (smoothness and regularity)and resistance to movements are then better
- Botulinum toxin to reduce plathysma hyperactivity
- Threads: when we want to treat sagging component
in this talk, we will discuss indications of fillers, type of materials and techniques we can use in this location

Results: hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite are the most important molecules in this indication. Obtained results can be very interesting in case of moderated neck aging and if we use product with the right cohesivity and viscosity. So, we have to choose among the available hyaluronic acids, to use pure for limited areas or diluted to treat larger zones.
calcium hydoxylapatite can also be used, giving the advantage of secondary neocollagenesis but it has to be diluted to give enough and not too heavy product.
Finally, we will discuss advantages and disadvantages of canulas and needles

Conclusion: The interest of injectables has to be known as one of tools that could be proposed to our patients with neck aging, especially as there is no perfect medical technique in this indication.

Objectives: The aim is to familiarize the audience with using Energy Based Devices (EBD) in neck rejuvenation

Introduction: Neck rejuvenation still a problem to the practitioner , due to its multiple involved factors. Surgical neck lift is the gold standard for neck laxity. EBD present a breakthrough in treatment of neck skin laxity & can be combined with a resurfacing procedure to achieve neck rejuvenation.

Materials / method: Non-Ablative , and Fractional lasers can provide some degree of neck tightening, in addition to correcting epidermal and dermal changes. Lately , Radio Frequency (RF) devices , & Micro Focused Ultrasound (MFU) have provided excellent results in neck tightening. Cryo-Lipolysis can tackle the problem of a heavy neck , in select cases, thus avoiding surgical liposuction.

Conclusion: The talk addresses the usage of EBD: lasers, RF, MFU, and CryoLiplysis, in managing neck rejuvenation , tailored according to the underlying patho-physiology. A combined approach can provide a more optimum result.

Objectives: The objective of this study is to systematically review safety and efficacy of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for skin rejuvenation of face and neck.

Introduction: High Intensity Focused Ultra-sound (HIFU) is a non-invasive treatment with thermal energy induced by focused ultrasound from transducer to deep dermis, as well as the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS). The US Food and Drug Administration approved HIFU treatment initially for eyebrow lifting in 2009, followed several years later with an approval for skin lifting of the neck and submentum.

Materials / method: We searched data banks including Ovid Medline, Web of Science, and Scopus till December 2017 using keywords related to HIFU and rejuvenation without any limitations in language for prospective interventional studies evaluating HIFU (alone and not in combination with any other procedures) for rejuvenation of face and neck.

Results: Among 1084 retrieved titles, 504 were duplicate. Two independent reviewers screened the titles and abstracts of the remaining 580 studies, and selected 52 publications for full text screening. Eighteen of these studies fulfilled all eligibly criteria and were selected for data extraction and analysis.

Conclusion: Although the results of these studies are promising, the majority of them have limitations in design or report such as small size, lack of suitable control group and randomization, not providing long term follow up, etc. So larger randomized, controlled studies with long follow up are required to assess the safety and efficacy of HIFU in rejuvenation of face and neck.
