Objectives: The main objective is to show a valid and safe alternative to ablative platforms and with long recovery times, in the treatment of photorejuvenation and reduction of diffuse skin hyperpigmentation and melasma treatment

Introduction: Light-based therapies have been shown to influence and perhaps reverse skin aging at the clinical, molecular, and histological levels. Recent scientific studies show that laser technology reduces photodamage by promoting collagen type I and III synthesis and enhancing heat shock protein expression. In the year 2013, the term "prejuvenation" i.e., "preventing the loss of youth" was coined; attitudes toward aesthetic medicine are changing, and even younger patients are seeking high-performance procedures to maintain their youth and prevent the appearance of signs of aging.

Materials / method: Laser based on the emission of a 675 nm wavelength (red light) through thermal microzones with 0.7 mm wide DOT and 15x15 mm scanners capable of producing selective thermal skin damage with an average depth of 500 μm, reaching the dermis.

Patient outcomes were evaluated using the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS).

Objective photographic results were evaluated using standardized three-dimensional photography was used to evaluate the outcomes.

Results: Patients treated achieve improvements in skin tone and texture, reduction of pores, reduction of superficial and deep wrinkles and skin laxity, reduction of diffuse pigmentation, and improvement of the vascular component. The most frequently treated areas are the face, neck, décolleté, and hands.

Conclusion: This technology offers a viable alternative to aggressive, ablative, painful procedures with long recovery times, especially in these modern times where people need a quick return to social and work activities. Also, not to be underestimated, for all those segment of people who are afraid or do not want injective treatments, offering a remarkable and natural result.

Objectives: Epidermal nevus striatus is hamartoma in the epidermis. They are thought to derived from pluripotent epidermal cells. It presents in 1 in 1000 births and manifests during i nfancy, childhood or even adulthood. There is no linked with neurologic symptoms. Various therapeutic modalities have been described, but no one therapy has been successful consistently.

Introduction: A 20-year-old man came with a skin lesion behind his right ear since he was 2 years old. It slowly enlarged and made a linear plaque. There was no family history of this similar problems. Physical examination revealed multiple brown warty papules coalesced to form linear, verrucous, hyperpigmented plaque. The plaque lies on his right ear following the Blaschko line. He didn’t feel any pain or pruritus. There is no physical anomaly found.

Materials / method: underwent carbon dioxide laser therapy with topical anesthesia before. The parameter laser at wavelength 10.600 nm used with continuous wave. Laser power ranged from 2 W to 4W, depend on the thickness and degree of keratosis of the lesion. After laser, the patient was asked to apply antibiotic topical treatment and occlusion non adherent dressing.

Results: After three sessions of carbon dioxide laser, the epidermal nevus striatus has been diminished.

Conclusion: Carbon dioxide laser 10.600 nm is effective and efficient treatment for epidermal nevus striatus.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the potential of fractional picosecond laser (FPL) therapy for promoting hair regrowth.

Introduction: There are limitations and side effects of current FDA-approved treatments for AGA, such as topical minoxidil, oral finasteride, and low-level light therapy.

Materials / method: This was a pilot study in 5 male participants treated with a 1064-nm FPL for mild-to-moderate AGA. The patients underwent three treatments at 4-week intervals, followed by a 4-week post-procedure assessment. Expert panel assessment score and patient satisfaction were assessed using a 7-point scale. Dermoscopic analysis was conducted to evaluate hair shafts. Adverse effects were also monitored.

Results: Clinical improvement was observed at 1 to 4 months after treatment, with a significant increase in expert panel assessment scores (p < 0.001). Patient satisfaction with hair density and thickness also improved significantly at 1 and 4 months (p=0.038 and p=0.007, respectively). Adverse effects were minimal and resolved within a week. Dermoscopic analysis showed minimal petechiae with no hair shaft damage.

Conclusion: The preliminary study demonstrates the potential of 1064-nm FPL for promoting hair regrowth in male pattern hair loss. Nonetheless, further research is recommended to elucidate and ratify for the optimization of this promising treatment approach.

Objectives: Phototherapy is a noninvasive method for treating various skin diseases like acne etc. The mechanism of action is not completely known but it is believed that red light affects the lipid or proteins of the virus and enhances the local immune cell functions and collagen synthesis accelerating the healing process. In HSV infections phototherapy can be applied in order to reduce disease severity and duration especially in patients that cannot or are not willing to undergo topical or systemic antiviral treatment.

Introduction: Herpes labialis is a very common viral infection caused by HSV1 and rarely HSV2. Its clinical characteristics are erythema, blisters and crusts accompanied by burning and pain. Symptomatic infections usually heal within 5 to 7 days and recurrences are very often. Furthermore, herpes labialis causes significant morbidity due to pain and aesthetic disfiguration. Common topical/systemic antivirals interfering with viral replication are used in order to reduce the duration of the lesions and flares up.

Materials / method: Ten patients with herpes labialis wanted to try an alternative treatment for their infection as they were disappointed with previous treatments or they wanted to try a physical method. All patients had an infection appeared less than two days. An 633nm red light therapy was applied for 5 minutes for 3 consecutive days

Results: Seven of 10 patients noticed a 70% improvement on the lesions and pain in 48-72 h. Three patients noticed only slight differences in symptoms improvement compared to untreated flares

Conclusion: Although further investigations are needed, phototherapy could be a safe and an alternative treatment for reducing the duration and severity of herpes labialis.
