Objectives: Understand the principles of Preservation Breast Augmentation

Introduction: Preservation breast augmentation is a novel technique which involves a minimal pre-pectoral soft tissue dissection, sparing all of the native chest wall musculature, which ultimately leads to a quicker recovery and long term patient comfort without sacrificing the aesthetic result. The use of highly cohesive 5th and 6th generation breast implants, along with a tight tissue pocket avoid implant rippling and palpability, as well as gel-bleed, thought to be a leading cause of capsular contracture.

Materials / method: This didactic lecture will include the history of subglandular breast augmentation, including the traditionally reported increase in complications such as capsular contracture, implant palpability and visible rippling. Recent reports of high rates of patient dissatisfaction with submuscular or dual-plane breast augmentation in addition to long term physical complaints of neck, shoulder and back pain when an implant is placed beneath the muscle and/or the origin of the pectoralis muscle is disrupted. Technique will be reviewed and lecture will be supported by intra-op photographs and video.

Results: Patient results will be shown.

Conclusion: This novel technique is a gamechanger for plastic surgeons interested in providing patients with rapid recovery and long-term comfort without sacrificing the aesthetic result.

Objectives: Sorry about the slighly gimmicky name... I am a very strong believer in the muscle split technoque for BA, having performed this over 1500 times. I am almost evangelical about it, so apologies in advance for this too.

I will present a single-surgeon experience spaning 10 years, during which the muscle-split technique for submuscular BA has been refined. The technique will be shown to be safe, reliable, reproducible, and in my opinion superior to almost all other techniques, in almost all sitiations.

I will also discuss complications, pitfalls, common mistakes and how to avoid these.

Objectives: Through the study carried out, we wanted to demonstrate the influence of breast augmentation on body image, self-esteem, emotional stability and the influence of all these factors on the psychosocial and sexual status of patients who opt for this type of intervention.

Introduction: The notoriety of breast augmentation in the aesthetic surgery of the twenty-first century has awakened our interest in investigating the preoperative characteristics, but also the psychosocial, sexual and motivational aspects that determine our patients to opt for this aesthetic intervention.

Materials / method: Preoperatively, we evaluated the postoperative expectations, the present patients' satisfaction with the appearance and volume of their breasts and the influence of these considerations on self-confidence and psychosocial and sexual status. Postoperatively, patients were evaluated at 3, 6 and 12 months to determine satisfaction with appearance, volume and consistency of their breasts, but also their self-confidence and self-attractiveness, emotional stability and the influence of all these factors in improving their quality of life, psychosocial and sexual status after breast augmentation.

Results: After breast augmentation, patients reported an increase in their sexuality, sexual desire and satisfaction, as well as an increase in their psychosocial well-being. Therefore, the quality of life of patients who opted for this type of intervention improved considerably postoperatively by improving their sex life, their body image as well as their physical and psychosocial well-being. At the same time, we noticed that there is no typical patient who opts for breast augmentation, as body image is important for all women and cannot be classified.

Conclusion: The postoperative result of a breast augmentation is not only morphological but also psychological, the patient finding herself more easily in the postoperative body image, and the study we are about to present to you has successfully demonstrated this fact.
