Why IMCAS Asia is returning to Indonesia
Dr Adri Dwi Prasetyo, Indonesian dermatologist and Course Coordinator of IMCAS Asia, explains the importance of the congress, why Indonesia is of such value to aesthetic science globally and discusses the country’s current beauty ideals.
What IMCAS provides
In my view, there are currently a lot of aesthetic congresses and workshops, with various ranges of scientific quality and objectivity. We, the Scientific Board of IMCAS Asia 2017, are thinking out of the box on how to provide practical science and to correct mistakes in anatomical and clinical understanding.
Following the congress, attendees will return home to their practices with the ability to analyze the individual patient in order to deliver the highest standard of treatment. IMCAS Asia 2017 will focus its program on this paradigm, so the delegates will learn the latest updates and correct past beliefs in a very didactic way for their improvement in aesthetic practice.
Why Indonesia?
In terms of medical aesthetic practice, Indonesia is positioned as the most interesting developing nation in the region. We absorb new technology with an open mindset, but we are very careful regarding its safety and effectiveness. A breakthrough scientific concept is quickly established in our practices, but with a careful analysis on its clinical impact. Therefore, Indonesia is often ranked on top in market research of the aesthetic industry in South East Asia.
Furthermore, I can proudly say that Indonesian doctors are rapidly updating our already high standard in aesthetic practices. In many congresses, Indonesian doctors are among the highest number of attendees. Plus, we develop our own concept of treating the patients using up-to-the-minute anatomical understanding and techniques. Many Indonesian experts will share their clinical insights with the attendees and it will be unique because these insights might differ from the regional and international point of view.
Indonesian beauty ideals
Beauty ideals in Indonesia are divided into two main streams. The first is the combination of international beauty ideals applicable to the Indonesian face. For example, a young lady will come to my office and ask for a little bit of Korean forehead, a Westernized nose, a very atrophic masseters, Kylie Jenner's lips, and Fan Bing Bing's chin. The second one is the national Indonesian beauty ideals, which is very interesting since Indonesia is a multicultural country, where you can see various types of face when you walk into a mall.
What is my concept of Indonesian beauty ideals? I prefer the national Indonesian beauty ideals, with correction or optimization of anatomical aesthetic feature.
What do I perform very often in my practice? Probably the Westernized nose and very atrophic masseters. So it all comes down to communication between us, the doctors, and the patients, and this will be part of the teaching program in IMCAS Asia 2017.
Stunning Bali
Indonesia provides state-of-the-art congress venues and hotels with distinctive local character, plus the opportunity for memorable touristic holidays before or after IMCAS Asia 2017. On beautiful Bali, known as the island of the gods, you can experience the highest quality science together with picturesque views and calming tranquility.
