Charles EMERY

Dr. Charles D. Emery has been Vice-President of Advanced Development and Chief Innovation Officer at the Merz Device Innovation Center since 2016.  He leads a talented group of engineers which explore and discover new technologies with a vision towards growing technical leadership in existing Merz products and creating new features and devices that align with overall product strategy.  Prior to joining Ulthera which was subsequently acquired by Merz, he held technical positions at large conglomerates, Siemens and Philips, as well as at small start-up companies, Mirabilis Medica and Therus.  Dr. Emery is an acknowledged expert in diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound system development.  He has been issued twenty-one patents and filed over seventy patent applications.  He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in medical ultrasonic imaging from Duke University.  Dr. Emery also holds a Master of Business Administration in Technology Management from University of Washington.
