Dr.
Poonkiat Suchonwanit, MD, IFAAD, is an esteemed dermatologist and associate
professor at the Division of Dermatology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of
Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand. He
received his MD degree from Srinakarinwirot University in Bangkok in 2000,
completed his Diploma in Dermatology (2005-2006), and earned his Diplomate Thai
Board of Dermatology (2006-2010) at Ramathibodi Hospital. Dr. Suchonwanit
further specialized through fellowships in Hair Disorders and Hair
Transplantation at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok (2010-2011), Hair Disorders at
Wake Forest University in North Carolina (2013-2014), and Hair Disorders and
Hair Pathology at the University of Miami (2014). His professional journey
began as a physician in the Internal Medicine Unit at Ayutthaya Hospital
(2003-2005) before completing his dermatology residency and assuming his
current position as associate professor at Ramathibodi Hospital since 2011. Dr.
Suchonwanit is recognized as a leading expert in hair disorders and hair
transplantation, with research interests spanning hair biology, hair and scalp
disorders, hair pathology, hair transplantation, hair loss in women, alopecia
areata, and scarring alopecia. His academic contributions include over 120
publications in peer-reviewed journals, covering various hair disorders,
dermatological conditions, and innovative treatments. Currently serving as an
associate editor of a peer-reviewed journal, Dr. Suchonwanit has also
participated in numerous collaborative studies and clinical trials. Throughout
his career, Dr. Suchonwanit has remained dedicated to advancing dermatological care,
establishing himself as a prominent figure in the field both nationally and
internationally through his continued contributions to cutting-edge research in
dermatology, with particular emphasis on hair disorders and their treatments.
