Dr. Shelton is double board certified as a dermatologist and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery. He has been in practice for more than 36years.  He studied under Dr. Richard Glogau and Dr. Roy Grekin during his fellowship in cosmetic dermatologic and Mohs surgery at the University of California in San Francisco.   In 1993, he was then recruited by the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City to create the first Division of Dermatologic Surgery at that hospital.  After five years as a full time faculty member, Dr. Shelton entered private practice in Manhattan in 2001 and formed one of the first medispas in New York City, The New York Aesthetic Center. In July 2014, Dr. Shelton joined Dr. Roy Geronemus in practice at the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York.

Dr. Shelton is an Assistant Professor, Department of Dermatology at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in N.Y.C.  He has lectured at many dermatologic and plastic surgical conferences and has published many articles in peer reviewed journals, chapters in medical textbooks and a chapter in an internet dermatology textbook on Liposuction.  His two books on Botox and Liposuction were published by Penguin-Putnam Publishers in 2002 and 2003 respectively.

Dr. Shelton has been entrusted by the American Academy of Dermatology to be a spokesperson for the media. He has been listed as one of New York Magazine’s Top Doctors, Castle Connolly’s “Best doctors in America”  and Super Doctors for many years.  Dr. Shelton has also received an award as Teacher of the Year at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, and from The Journal of Dermatologic surgery for original research.
