Dr Hussein Saber Abdulhassan
I graduated from Alexandria School of Medicine in 1977 and finished my residency in Plastic
Surgery in 1982. I joined the Virginia Medical School in USA 1982-83 under care of Charles
Horton and finished an esthetic surgery fellowship then to Louisville,Ky for fellowships in
Microsurgery with Bob Acland and Hand Surgery with Kleinert Institute 1983-1986.
I was appointed as a lecturer in Alexandria Plastic Surgery Department, Alexandria University
and promoted to Professor by 1998. I then chaired this Department in 2012 and the General
Surgery Department 2013-2014 during which I contributed to a improved system for
undergraduate teaching and supervised and chaired the residency program committee and
changed the 3 years residency to a 5 years system.
I joined oue ESPRS SINCE 1982 AND served as Treasurer for 8 years and then Served as
President of the Egyptian Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2014-2015. organised all summer
meetings of the society from 1997 till 2009
I am the National Secretary of ISAPS and Co Chair of Educational Committee for Africa & Middle
East and organised 3 ISAPS courses in Egypt till now
With more than 1850 National and International presentations and chairs of meetings and
courses and great achievements in introducing new technologies and procedures in our part of
the world. An approved consultant in Saudi Arabia Qatar and Quwait
Member of ESPRS, ISAPS Egyptian Society of Surgery , Obesity , Academy of Aesthetic
Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes Society
Writings covered all aspects starting from a chapter on Cutaneous free flaps in Georgiade &
Georgiade Books to our PRS journal and also the Egyptian plastic surgery journal for more than
65 publications
I am appointed now as a member of the Board for Evaluation of Professorship in Egypt and
member of the Board for the National Residency Training.
