Dr Thomas Rappl is a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery and a member of the IMCAS Academy scientific board.
On the 28th of June 2017, Dr Rappl participated in the live IMCAS Academy webinar on facing and managing fillers or threads complications.
We asked Dr Rappl a few questions about his thoughts on the importance of webinars and other e-learning resources.
This is your first IMCAS Academy webinar. Have you ever participated in a live webinar before?
I have participated in a live webinar before! Personally I think this kind of meeting and debate will increase in the near future and will gain lot of importance.
Tell us your thoughts on the need for online debate between peers. What are the benefits of this medium?
For sure the benefit is, that we don't have to lose too much time, because we can discuss from anywhere at anytime. It will improve over time a lot, and the quality will increase.
It is also a good platform to debate things in a short time - so we don't have to wait for the next congress to meet each other.
How do you personally use health related e-learning platforms?
I'm just getting used to it!
What do you think about the e-learning resources that are available for doctors in our industry?
They are improving constantly. Probably in the future, some congresses will be replaced by webinars.
This webinar is focused on the complications related to fillers and threads. Why are complications such a difficult subject to discuss?
It is an incredibly big field - every year, new techniques and new devices are presented at the big congresses.
On the other hand the number of complications is rising dramatically. Even if you think, you have seen everything, there will be something new to discuss.
You can view this webinar and others on the IMCAS Academy library.
