Tongji Hospital Subordinated to Tongji University is one of the youngest, but the most rapidly developed and most vigorous Class comprehensive 3A hospitals in Shanghai. The Hospital is currently undertaking nearly 100 research projects at various levels as of national foundation of natural sciences, Ministry of Health, and of Shanghai Municipality. Education for advanced medical personnel is also among the functions of the Hospital. Two national academic journal, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Chinese Medical Abstract in Surgery (English Version) published in the Hospital are exerting their nationwide influence on the development of medicine in this country. International activities of academic exchange are flourishing in the Hospital, which result in extensive relationship between the Hospital and dozens of overseas universities, such as those in USA, France, Great Britain, Japan, Germany, Australia, etc., and in such districts as Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.
