Objectives: To demonstrate the experience of early laser intervention in the management of complications after blepharoplasty, which will allow avoiding reoperation and optimizing the outcome and increasing patient satisfaction with the surgery.
Introduction: Blepharoplasty is one of the most demanded plastic surgeries. Despite the fact that surgical techniques are constantly being improved, postoperative complications continue to occur. Complications after blepharoplasty are often not only aesthetic, but also functional in nature, affecting the state of the nearby organ of vision. Early correction of emerging complications is an urgent task and allows you to shorten the recovery time and prevent the development of persistent dysfunctional disorders.
Materials / method: Clinical cases of various types of complications after blepharoplasty are presented, including hypertrophic scars, ligature fistula, ectropion, inflammation of unspecified etiology. At an early stage of the development of complications (within the first month after surgery), all patients received treatment using an Er:YAG laser with spatially modulated ablation (SMA) technology. The treatment outcome was assessed by the dynamics of photographs and indicators of the FACE-Q scale of patient satisfaction of surgical intervention.
Results: All patients with a developing complication after blepharoplasty were treated with the Er: YAG laser with SMA technology, which made it possible to achieve healing in a relatively short time (1 - 2 months), without side effects and with an optimal aesthetic result. No pathological scarring was observed, no reoperation was required, and functional disorders completely regressed. Early laser treatment influenced the quality of life of patients after plastic surgery, their psychological status and social adaptation, and increased satisfaction with the result of the operation.
Conclusion: Early treatment of emerging complications after blepharoplasty using the Er:YAG laser is of interest and promising direction in managing their outcome. Further accumulation of experience in laser treatment of local postoperative complications is necessary to optimize the protocols and results of treatment of complications.
