Experience in multi-ethnic rhinoplasty

Objectives: Share my own experience in multi-ethnic rhinoplasty during my 30 years of performing this surgery
Show techniques and approaches to different types of skin and race

Introduction: The nose is an important part in an individual’s appearance, hence concerns on the form resulting in increasing demand for rhinoplastic operations. The characteristics and differences of the shapes of the nose have been studied among different ethnic groups . Variables that determine the shape of the nose include race, tribe and environmental climatic conditions, with narrower noses being favored in cold and dry climates and broader noses in warmer, moister ones as a consequence of natural selection in human evolution

Materials / method: Own Experience

Results: The racial and ethnic features of each patient’s nose are dependent on the underlying bony and cartilaginous skeletal frameworks together with the skin and the soft tissue envelopes . These features have genetic basis but are also influenced by environmental factors such as trauma, ageing, nutrition and surgery. Environmental climatic condition are believed to influence the shape of the nose with narrower noses being favored in cold and dry climates and broader noses in tropical environment.

Preservation rhinoplasty

Objectives: Preservation rhinoplasty is a new approach to modifying the aesthetic appearance of the nose, maintaining the natural appearance and retaining as much of the patient's original structures (bone and cartilage) as possible while improving the appearance of the nose, diminishing the appearance of a bump or reducing the projection of the nose, on patients who have not had a previous rhinoplasty procedure. A closed rhinoplasty is a good choice for some patients who need a minimal amount of work done.

My rhinoplasty technique

Objectives: The objective of this study to show the author personal results of Rhinoplasty, during the last 20 years.
It has been selected 5 patients with misconducted practiced as nasal orifice synechiae, necrosis of the skin, removal of fillers and threads

Introduction: The social media and the growth of selfies, have made the look for nose jobs explode. In the same proportion have grown the number of the so called injectors and surgeons of the nose.
There are lots of dissatisfied patients, with bad results, unfortunatelly the patients are looking for an easy way for a nose job

Materials / method: All the selected patients have undergone nasal procedures with others practioners.The 5 selected patients have filled a form consenting that the author has no obligation in the aesthetis result.
They have undergone general anesthesia, in a surgical environment, also to ensure the nasal function , an ent doctor (otolaryngologist) joined all the procedures

Results: From the selected patients , 4 of them were very pleased with the results. Unfortunately the patient with nasal synechiae have developed some psychiatric problems due the previous result and ended his life.

Conclusion: The plastic surgeon takes about 11 years at least in his formation. Sometimes the price can be very attractive, but the patients need to pay attention at promotions, There is no easy way in a nose job. Always look for a certified surgeon.
