Objectives: A showcase of the treatment of the double chin with absorbable Aptos threads in the copolymer of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and polycaprolactone (PCL)

Introduction: The treatment of the double chin is a frequently requested procedure not only in aged patient but also in younger patients. There are different causes of this antiaesthetic characteristic: weight gain and loss, anatomical particularity of the neck and submental area, age-related changes. The surgical treatment is a gold standard, but not always the patient accepts scars, pain and extended downtime. Thread treatment is a valid alternative for this surgical procedure.

Materials / method: After proper disinfection and infiltrative anaesthesia, the treatment is performed by insertion of Absorbable thread in the copolymer of PLLA/PCL with bidirectional barbs 50 cm long equipped with two double-edged needles (Needle2G).

Results: The result is instant and improves in the following months due to the strong biostimulation of PLLA released by PLC for one year.

Conclusion: Absorbable Aptos threads with bidirectional barbs (Needle2G) is an effective method of double chin correction with an instant result and long lasting biostimulation
