Objectives: Describe the new paradigm of age prevention
Introduction: Currently, age prophylaxis and skin health can be achieved with a plethora of non-invasive cosmetic procedure, including laser, ultrasound, radiofrequency energy-devices, toxins, fillers, topicals and internal biologics. Together, and via a strategic combination customized to the patient’s needs and anatomic nuances, the signs and processes of aging can be forestalled and even reversed, all by capturing a successful aesthetic outcome.
Materials / method: Key components of a successful anti-aging strategy include: protection with antioxidants/sunscreens, promotion of epidermal turnover with chemical peels, laser ablation and dermabrasion, collagen/elastin remodeling with energy-based modalities and volume repletion with volumetric (PLLA, PMMA, CaHa) and dermal (HA) fillers. For volume repletion, a trivector bimodal methodology is critical in order to successfully replace loss of both deep and superficial fat pads, bone and muscle.
Results: Replacing the deep fat pads requires supraperiosteal injections that can re-create a structural platform of the upper, middle and lower face. To maximize patient comfort, three injection access points are utilized, known as trivector points: one at the temporal fossa, one at the midface and one at the jawline.Following the reinforcement of the deep anatomical areas, deep dermal/subcutaneous injections are done to customize the treatment according to anatomic facial parameters and individual preferences.
Conclusion: This bimodal, trivector approach using new generation volumetric and dermal fillers, with intrinsic regenerating biological properties can serve as a prophylactic approach to aging and securing of skin health.
