Objectives: The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficiency of intracavernosal APRP injection in treatment of erectile dysfunction, on the penis rejuvenation & enlargement.
The oral presentation deals with using autologous platelet-rich plasma as a new treatment for erectile dysfunction in men.
Introduction: In recent years there was a significant interest in regenerative medicine technology due to its high effectiveness with a good safety and low cost.
Currently autologous platelet has been used successfully in various fields of medicine (surgery, traumatology & orthopedics, sports medicine, cosmetics).
However until now there have been no studies consistent with evidence-based medicine verifying the effectiveness & long-term results of APRP application for erectile dysfunction treatment.The GF contained in the APRP & involved in the erectile dysfunction treatment are FGF-basic, PDGF-AA, PDGF-B
Materials / method: The study has been lead on 35 patients aged between 42 & 78 years with Erectile dysfunction.
Clinical & hormonal evaluation have been performed before the treatment.
Total volume injected was 12 ml of pure APRP.
5 sessions in total have been performed, the first 3 every 2 weeks, the fourth after 2 months and then 1 session after 6 months.
Results: The results was very encouraging : 32 patients on 35 (91,4%) had a good response to the treatment.
Post-procedural minor adverse events were seen in 5 men, consisting of mild pain at injection site and mild penile bruising. No patients experienced complications at follow-up.
Conclusion: Intracavernous autologous platelet-rich plasma appears to a be a safe and efficient treatment for erectile dysfunction.
