Objectives: The Jordanian society for dermatology, venereology, dermatologic surgery and laser (JSDVDSL) was founded in December 12th 1977. fifty members from Jordan and Palestine were in the General Assembly. The president was Dr. Hassan Khreis . The main office was in Amman and another branch in Jerusalem. The Society had several goals, which are scientific, professional and social.
Introduction: The aim was to improve the scientific level of its members. This was attained through participation in international conferences, carrying out local conferences and workshops. In this context, the Scientific Committee has done more than thirteen local international conferences. The most important one was the first Pan Arab League of dermatology conference in Amman and the 13th Arab League of dermatology conference at the Dead Sea (PALD). More than one thousand Arab and international participants attended this conference.
Results: JSDVDSL focused on protecting this profession from intruders, who are not specialists in the field of dermatology; Especially in the field of aesthetic dermatology. It also worked on organizing the labor market in the private sector. The association now has more than 300 members from the private sector, governmental agencies and military services.
Conclusion: The Jordanian Society is an influential and effective member in the PAN Arab league of dermatology (PALD) and the international league of dermatology ( ILDS).
