Facial aesthetic surgery in men - What is the difference?

Objectives: Describe some of the different approaches and concepts of aesthetics as applied to men having cosmetic facial surgery.

Introduction: Aesthetic facial surgery in men is increasing in popularity. Men may have different reasons for seeking surgical enhancement or rejuvenation than woman and should be treated accordingly.

Materials / method: In order to identify differences in treating men with cosmetic surgery comparted to women, we analyzed all cases over the past 5 years on men operated on in the senior surgeon’s private practice.

Results: Men accounted for 5% of aesthetic surgical cases. In terms of facial surgery in men, face and neck lifts were the most popular procedures followed by eyelid enhancement, liposuction to the neck, chin enhancement and rhinoplasty and lastly brow lifting. No buccal lipectomies were performed in men over the past 5 years. Men had a higher frequency of associated sleep apnea and in terms of rhinoplasty, more rhinoplasty revisions than women.

Conclusion: Overall, men are a bit more conservative than women with lower expectations. Surgical techniques should be respectful of men’s desires to look natural as if nothing was done.

Facelifts for men

Objectives: To determine which facelift procedures yield the most long-term rejuvenating effects on men

Introduction: The experience of our team suggests facelifts has many specificities on men

Materials / method: To assess the specificities and outcomes on men, we conducted a prospective study of 30 patients treated at our hospital by the same surgeon between 2013 and 2016.

Results: The scars regarding the hair and beard line are the main concern but not to difficult to hide. Discretion and inconspicuous scars are very important for women but mandatory for men. But more and more men have very short hair or are bald. The redundant skin can be partially resorbed with the net technique. The sagging and hypertrophy of salivary glands (submandibular and parotid) are a common target and require specific techniques.

Conclusion: The demand for facelifts on men is increasing and require a specific diagnosis algorithm and the mastering of a set of techniques.

Reshaping of the male upper body: a scarless approach

Objectives: THIS PRESENTATION WILL DEMONSTRATE A NEW APPROACH IN MALE BODY AESTETICS .
THE COMBINED ADVANCES IN THE FIELD OF BODY CONTOURING LIPOSUCTION AND LIPOFILLING PROCEDURES WITH THE BETTER APPRECIATION OF THE AESTHETIC ANATOMICAL NEEDS OF THE MALE POPULATION.

Introduction: LIPOSCULPTURE OF THE MALE CHEST WALLAND UPPER BODY PARTS INCLUDING SHOULDERS AND UPPER ARMS REPRESENT A NEW DIMENSION IN THE FIELD OF MALE BODY CONTOURING PROCEDURES. SINCE THE EARLY WORK OF MENTZ, HOYOHOS AND OTHERS IDENTIFYING THE IMPORTANCE OF MUSCULATURE FEATURES OF UPPER ARM, SHOULDERS AND PECTORAL REGION, THEY COMBINE LIPOSUCTION, LIPOFILLING AND ETCHINGOF THE ANATOMICAL LINES OF THE REGION.
THE USE OF HIDDEN SCARS MAKING IT ALMOST SCARLESS ESP. IN THE AREOLA, INSIDE THE AXILLA AND INNER ASPECTS OF THE ARM.THIS MAKES THE WHOLE EXTENSIVE PROCEDURE ALMOST SCARLESS.

Materials / method: 80 ADULT MALE PATIENTS , AGE RANGED FROM 17-38 YS WITH HEALTHY BODIES IN NEED OF THIS COMBINED PROCEDURES FOR LIPOSCULPTURING OF THEIR UPPER BODY IN THE LAST THREE YEARS 2016-2019 WERE INCLUDED
EACH CASE WAS SUBJECED TO THE SAME PREOP. DRAWING AND PREPARATIONS WITH GENERAL ANASTHESIA TO ALL OF THEM. INFILTRATION WITH TUMESCENT SOLUTION DONE FOLLOWED BY HIDDEN INCISIONS AS PLANNED.
ETCHING PERFORMED WITH THE POWER ASSISSTED MACHINE TO DELINEATE THE ANATOMICAL DETAILS.DRESSING WITH COPRESSION GARMENTS IN ALL CASES WITH IMMEDIATE POSTOP. LYMPH DRAINAGE PROTOCOL DAILY IN CLINIC.

Results: ALL CASES WERE EVALUATED WITH SATISFACTION RATE 85 %AFTER FOLLOW UP FROM 12-36 MONTHS. FEW COMPLICATIONS WILL BE DEMONSTRATED BUT MANAGED EASILY.

Conclusion: THIS IS A NEW APPROACH FOR MALE AESTHETIC PROCEDURES AND IT IS BETTER THAN THE INJECTION OF FOREIGN MATERIAL IN THE MUSCLES TO ENHANCE THEIR SUPER-MUSCULAR APPEARANCE.
THIS IS A SAFE PROCEDURE COBINING LIPOSCULPURE, LIPOFILLING, ETCHING AND HIDDEN SCARS IN SAME OPERATION .

Male mentoplasty with implants associated to cervicoplasty

Objectives: To determine the Role of the Mentoplasty of Increase in the Facial Profile, as in the rejuvenation of the lower facial third.

Introduction: The augmentation mentoplasty has been one of the procedures that has mobilized the plastic surgeons in the search for alternatives that allow a facial harmony of the lower third of the face, for this from the use of synthetic materials and the individual's own in the eagerness to achieve the right result in time.

Materials / method: The experience of 10 years is presented, in the use of Porous Polyethylene, as a preformed implant with the aim of increasing the projection of the chin, in male and female patients, as an isolated procedure and associated with Cervicoplasties, with the aim to improve the facial profile.

Results: It is presented, different surgical approaches, design and way of fixing it, as well as the results in the short, medium and long term

Conclusion: A Tactical and Technical option, versatile and lasting over time, with a predictable result.
